Part of WordPress’s remote posting is it has to run a crontab which periodically cycles through and checks the POP account you’ve created for mail. It’s fairly simple to set up to run.

There is apparently a significant security risk in the last version of WordPress (1.5.1.2) which required an immediate fix or upgrade. There is more information here about the steps required.

For several weeks now, I’ve been playing with a new WordPress plugin called Blogs of the Day. Unlike other plugins for WordPress, this one isn’t about making your site more aesthetically pleasing or easier to navigate. This one is all about popularity, and more importantly, building a community of WordPress bloggers.
