2007 Annual Charitable Donation List
Published by Elana December 31st, 2007 in Volunteer Work & Charitable Giving. This year, I made tax deductible donations as follows:
| Month | Charity/Cause | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| March | Project Bread / Walk for Hunger | $50 |
| December | WGBH (Public Television/NPR) | $50 |
| December | Americares | $100 |
| December | PetSmart Charities | $25 |
| December | Heifer International | $30 (Beehive) |
| Total: | $255 |
My parents made a large donation to Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth in October for our wedding. That was what we did in lieu of favors, but that’s technically her charitable contribution, even though it was made for us.
I also made about $100 in clothing and book donations.
I also continued my work with the AARP Bill Payer program. I help an elderly woman with her bills each month. It’s about an hour of my time and requires about 8 miles of driving each trip.
(Elana’s tax tip: You can receive credit for mileage and travel expenses for volunteer work but not for the work itself)
I pushed all my donations until the end of the year this year and I’m not happy with that, so I am making an effort to set aside $25/month this year for charitable causes. Right now, my planned causes are:
I have room for more in my budget if anyone has any suggestions.
The first will be February when I’m going to put $50 in for the Walk for Hunger again. Yes, this is your two month warning.
