Things about my Birthday

Because everyone else is doing it:

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, three births, and three deaths in your journal, including the year.

Events:

  • 1789 – Alexander Hamilton is appointed as first Secretary of the Treasury.
  • 1918 – Baseball: The Boston Red Sox won the World Series; they would do so again on October 27, 2004 after 86 years.
  • 2001 – The September 11 attacks destroy the World Trade Center in New York City, part of The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and crashed a passenger airliner in Pennsylvania. In total, almost 3,000 are killed.

Births:

  • 1847 – Thomas Alva Edison, inventor with over 1,000 patents to his name
  • 1862 – O. Henry, American writer (d. 1910)
  • 1885 – D.H. Lawrence, English novelist (d. 1930)

Deaths:

  • 1971 – Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev, Soviet politician and leader (b. 1894)
  • 1972 – Max Fleischer, American animator (b. 1883)
  • 2003 – John Ritter, American actor (b. 1948)

I agree with your earlier comment that you couldn’t NOT include the 9/11/01 stuff, but I have to say, I love that you included something about the Sox.
