Wordpress 2.0 Upgrade Complete
Published by Elana January 21st, 2006 in Random Ramblings, Site Admin, WordPress.I’ve upgraded to Wordpress 2.0. I never ran into the issue Carl said he had with his upgrade. The only issues I had was with my stupidity when deciding to change my Wordpress install directory at the same time as my install. The only plug-in I had problems with was the one I use to write PHP code in my posts, but I found another one that’s Wordpress 2.0 compliant that should do the trick. One of the things I do when upgrading is check for updates to plug-in code, anyhow. I did have to upgrade a couple including wp-amazon and Spam Karma.
The new post editor is WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get, for you non-programmers or just uninformed :)) and it’s a little slower as it figures out scripting as you type. I’m not quite sure I like it. I was just fine using plain text. It does have an option to edit HTML source, though, so maybe it’ll be something I can deal with. We’ll see what Liz thinks when I update Moneystuffed next week.
There’s a file upload bar on the bottom. At some point I’ll probably play with it. Probably when I’m uploading a badly drawn explanation of something I did while driving.
My Random Play theme seems to work okay with it. I have been meaning to write a new theme as I’m getting a bit sick of this one. Maybe I’ll find a nice existing theme and just stick all my code in there.
I went to the Default theme for a bit. The new version allows you do modify the colors on the fly. It’s pretty wicked, actually.
Well, given it’s after 1:30 pm now, and this is all I’ve done so far today (other than my standard Saturday personal finance chores), I think it’s time to stop and get dressed, even if I’m not going anywhere (Carl borrowed the car to take to work).
