And in the end… (PMX Day 3)
Published by Elana September 6th, 2005 in Conventions, Travel.Once again, we were awaken by our friendly, neighborhood “alarm” clock at around 7 am. We weren’t scheduled to be on duty until 4 pm that evening (running ConOps for the end of the convention while the head of Operations and Convention Operations went to closing ceremonies and the input session). Paula had agreed to meet us at 10 am to retrieve the MS Gundam Travel Bug from the Three “Pole-ish” Necklaces cache. We met Paula in the lobby of the Hyatt and took the 1 mile round-trip walk to get the bug. It was a nice, seaside walk and we enjoyed it.
After finding the bug, we checked in briefly with ConOps and I called Keys to find out where staging for the charity auction was for the City of Hope folks to bring some donations from GoFA. At the same time I asked if Misa still needed our assistance with temporary bunny housing during the charity auction.
We took a trip back to the Renn and popped into registration (the holding area) to see if we could get the bunnies taken care of before lunch. Misa and Casey were out, but we did get to say hello to Keys for the first time during the convention and we also greeted Katherine Fang, who we knew from working other conventions. We got in touch with Misa and Casey and agreed to meet after lunch and prior to their 2:30 pm check-out time. Carl and I walked up to a restaurant called Wasabi on Pine Ave. The food was good, although not great. It wasn’t terribly expensive and it did satisfy our Japanese food urge for the day.
After lunch we returned to the hotel, met with Casey and Misa, and completed the bunny transfer. We headed over to the LBCC and took a final turn in the dealer’s room. Carl’s bag was in its final throes so we picked him up a Myth NERV bag. I picked up the Kodocha box (with a Myth wear Babbit bag) and some CLAMP manga (catching up with Legal Drug, XXXholic, and Tsubasa). Carl also got caught up with Negima.
We then headed to the Random Ninjas concert. Unfortunately, the room was running about 1/2 hour late and we ended up sitting in on the sound-check and we had to leave halfway through the concert to go work ConOps for the evening. The concert was pretty good. Random Ninjas plays rock music of anime covers along with one or two of their own numbers. Their sound is solid and their act is fun overall.
We snuck out of the concert and went to ConOps, where we watched the Muppet Show Season 1 until it was time to shut down and head to the Dead Dog Party. We stayed at the Dead Dog until around 2 am and then headed to bed. We have a 6 hour drive ahead of us to get to San Simeon and a rental car to pick up. The convention has ended, but the vacation has begun.

I’m so sorry I missed it! I would have loved to see you there!
Just popping by to say happy b-day (according to LJ)! *hug*
