Bob Edwards on Audible.com
Published by Elana August 29th, 2005 in Random Ramblings.I know a lot of people I’ve spoken to have lamented they couldn’t hear the Bob Edwards broadcasts on XMPR without investing in XM equipment, satellite service, etc. XM recently opened a store on Audible.com. This means you can (for a small fee) download their programs to your MP3 player, much like a Podcast. If you’re not an AudibleListener member, an individual Bob Edwards broadcast is $2.95, monthly is $12.95, and an annual subscription is $69.95. If you are a member, you can get one free subscription to a radio program with your $14.95/month rate (they’re currently offering a free 128 MB MP3 player for subscribing). You’ll also be able to download one audiobook a month. If you’re not sure, download one of the shows you think will interest you. I recommend a full subscription. Even the stuff I think I’m not interested in becomes interesting through a Bob Edwards interview.

I don’t quite understand why anyone would purchase the show through Audible with their crippled propriatary files when a subscription to XM Satellite Radio is only $12.95 a month, and that brings not only The Bob Edwards Show (why I originally subscribed), but hundreds of other channels of talk, music, and darned near anything else you can think of.
I have XM radio so I was letting some of my friends who don’t want to invest in the equipment or don’t drive know where they can get his material. Lots of people don’t drive and when you live in the city, it’s very hard to get a good satellite signal for a home system. I can’t get much receiption at all at home.
