Deer Island Walk & Photos

It was the first sunny Saturday in over three weeks, so I got into the car and drove down to Deer Island (which is about a mile from my house). Deer Island is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park. I walked the three mile loop around the island, taking photos as I went.

The island consists of an odd mixture of man and nature, sharing the walking and bike paths overlooking Boston Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean with a MWRA Wastewater Treatment Facility. In the past it has been host to a prison, a hospital, and a social services center. Quite the varied history!

It was a beautiful day, so I took plenty of pictures. Here’s a sampling:

Dreamhost is, in fact, offering the most current version of WP.

Btw, love the photo of the rocks and the water.

I haven’t been to a beach since August ‘04. This is very wrong.

Pretty! That’s really nice that you’ve got such a park so close to you. Walking out in the nice beautiful days are so relaxing and refreshing.
