Pants Saga - Concluded?

I got to the mall around 6:30 pm, and since I knew what I was after and had a 1/2 hour before Carl got off work, I walked next door to the Express where I found a salesperson and explained the whole pants dilemna.

She insisted I try the 10 short again. I sighed and did as she asked and double-checked on the 12 regular while I was at it. She didn’t have any 12 regulars out, so went in the back to get one. While she was in the back, I had an inspiration. A sad, little inspiration, but inspiration nonetheless. There was a sale in the store. Buy one pair of cropped pants, get the second for $25 off. “Hrm, I wonder…” I thought, holding the cropped pants against my leg for length. It was hard to tell for sure, so I grabbed a size 12, paying no attention to the color, only that they be machine washable, and took them into the dressing room with me on a whim.

Sure enough, they fit and they were the right length. They might be slightly shorter than pants should be, but not really enough to notice. Yes, sad but true. As a matter of fact, the size 10 short, even though they were tight up top, were still a little long in the leg. So, I bought two pairs of the crops in size 12 regular, which fit me like regular pants, one in black and one in beige. I feel so sad it’s come to this, but yet, it has.
