Another One Bites the Dust

I decided, even though there was only $900 left on the account, why the hell am I paying 17.99% on my Apple loan when I could transfer the amount to First USA for 3.99% and no transaction fees? So, I called MBNA and was up front. I said that I could get 3.99% for the remainder of the balance, and what could they do so they could keep my business and so I didn’t close the account. They were willing to give me 3 points (14.99%). I have credit that will allow purchases at 10.49% so that’s no deal for me. He was apologetic, but pretty much said that I’d be insane not to take the 3.99% deal. So I took it. As soon as MBNA shows the credit on my account, I will be closing the Apple Line of Credit. It’s not worth having. So, I’m down to two cards with rotating balances, each at 3.99% and 4.99%. My other cards with balances are at 0% or I’m owed a reimbursement on the charge from either work or Anime Boston or it’s a store card and I plan on making the payments before interest is charged. The only thing is I was required to put too much of my money to the minimum balance of the 4.99% card (which requires a 3% payment) and I’ve been digging into my flexible spending savings each month by about $100. So, it makes sense to me to put the $100 I was spending on the LOC towards myself and not another card. At least for the time being. I still need to go through my W4 and decrease the amount I’m putting towards my annual taxes so I don’t get another $5k refund. Yes, I loaned the government $5k interest free last year. I refuse to do that twice.
So far I’ve been good about sticking to my rules about my credit. I’ve made several Borders purchases, but on my debit card, not a credit card. I feel good about that. Now, if only the gas prices would decrease…
