Rental Car Suckage

Well. I got the rental car LATE on Thursday and I’ve been driving it since. They gave me a free upgrade and I ended up with a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Let me just say in advance, I’m sorry if you like this car, but I don’t. It sucks. Badly. With approximately 7500 miles on it, it drives a lot like my 1986 Chevy Nova did in 1997. That’s the year I replaced it with the Grand Am. Of course, you have to consider the MSRP on the Lancer is MSRP $14,562 - $17,092 while on my RSX Type S the MSRP is $20,475 - $23,820. However, I can feel the difference in performance and even workmanship as I drive. Plus, I’ve discovered, now that I drive a manual, I HATE automatics. It’s so boring to drive. Foot down, foot up, foot down, foot up. Nothing for my poor left foot to do but tap to the beat of the music on the radio.

My car received a supplemental estimate and the total cost of repairs now runs about $1700. The exhaust system needs to be replaced. Fun. The dealer called today and said I should have it late this week or early next. The insurance says I can have the rental through next Wednesday. That should hopefully be enough time. I really hate the rental, so I’m hoping sooner rather than later on my car repair.
