CLAMP Campus Adventures

Another day without work, so I’ll type a blog entry, and maybe even get in some of the stuff that was lost yesterday.

I know I haven’t really posted in over a month. The summer course that started in early July ran two times a week and ends today. My team is giving a final presentation on the disruptive potential of HDTV tonight. Then it’s done. Of course, my Fall classes start again the first week in September, so I only get a week off and it’s back to work. Fall semester will be Organization & Management of Non-Profit Organizations and Financial Management & Economic Value. No, I don’t have them memorized, I just have my schedule sitting next to me. Wednesdays starting at 4:30 pm and running until 10 pm. I should be home by 11 pm that night. I’ll have to tape West Wing and that new DC show on the WB. I’ll set it up so WW tapes in my living room where the VCR is hooked through the digital cable box and the DC show tapes in my bedroom where there’s no cable box so the VCR can freely change the channel. Since I watch NBC in the mornings in the living room, this will work out since I won’t have to remember to change the channel before leaving for class.

The car is running well. It needs to get the transmission fixed (under warranty, the clutch keeps slipping) and the window will need professional work. The problem is in the door and we just can’t get to it. That’ll cost about $350. The other big thing is that I want to get it fully detailed and see if I can get the leather reconditioned and repaired. There’s a place up the road from where I live so I might see if I can do that soon.

Since the last substantial post, I’ve finished Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears. I should have Without Remorse finished by the weekend. Then I get to see Jack Ryan really get some power in politics. Clear and Present Danger was interesting. It gave us more John Clark, who is wicked cool, and can kick some serious ass, and Jack Ryan managed to get some action in too. The Sum of All Fears was nothing like the movie. If you go see the movie, don’t expect to read the book and know what’s going to happen. A bomb went off in the United States is about all they got right. I won’t get into it but the book was great, especially since Jack Ryan was acting like total ass throughout most of it and it was all about him getting his act together. John Clark as Jack Ryan’s bodyguard was also pretty cool. Finally, I’m totally enjoying the John Clark novel that I’m reading now. I love that Emmett Ryan (Jack’s father) has a rather substantial part in it. Jack also appears, but he’s just a cameo. He’s still in college at this point. It’s kind of cool. I have to get to the end still.

Last weekend I went with K to see Possession. It was good. I totally didn’t get the thing with the last name that K mentions in her blog, but I’ll have to get the book and see if that’s something they added or changed or just explained better.

I desperately need a haircut.
