Well, things have been happening. Let me start with the con. On Friday night, Adam and I headed up to Vermont and spent the night in a bed and breakfast in Waterbury. Exhausted, we ate dinner and collapsed into bed. On Saturday we attended Bakurestu Con. It was very small. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot to do there, but I did manage to watch Otaku no Video. There were three dealers there, including the one that was sponsering the con. It really was unfortunate as they’d actually had 19 pre-registrants, which is more than any other New England con previous (besides Anime Boston that is).

On Sunday, Adam and I headed out to the Ben & Jerry’s factory (convienently next to the b&b) and then back up to Burlington to help Pat pack up his car. Then we caravaned back to Boston and the Anime Boston staff meeting. Lots of new faces there.

On the way home (well, actually while I was still in Burlington), I picked up a Sunday Globe and started scouring some car ads to see what was available used. I figure that if I can get something nice cheap enough, then I won’t need collision, and maybe not even comp. I found a couple of possibilities and called.

By the time I’d gotten back to Boston, one of the possibilities was sold. The other I had an appointment to see on Tuesday (today). So, now it’s today and I went to see the car. It had some body damage, and some ticking in the engine (could be valves, timing belt, or perhaps the idle pulleys). It was only in idle. The A/C wasn’t working right either. I’m going to have a mechanic look at it, and if all goes well, I’ll be the proud owner of a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible. I figure it’ll be a fun car for weekend driving. The roof was in good condition and I’m hoping most of the problems will be taken care of with a good tune up.
