Saga Update

I had typed this in on Friday night (or early Saturday morning) but Blogger ate it. Seems to be a trend lately. I guess it was hungry.

On Friday evening, I spoke to Mike Wall, the owner of Mike’s Movers. I went over my bill line by line. I asked about why the boxes were charged to me at different prices. I asked about the $130 charge for packing that he never quoted me on the phone. I asked about the words ’sweep/bag/trash’ on the bill (for which he charged me $75 and didn’t sweep). He maintained that I “misunderstood” the quote he gave me and that he wrote “sweep” but meant “pick-up”. Dude, don’t write it if you don’t mean it. He had nothing to add to the time it took other than he “worked very hard” and “did his best”. Yeah, I’m sure you do your best while drinking my beer, dude. And it wasn’t even my beer. It was by friend Brian’s. Sorry Brian, I did manage to save one bottle though. You can come visit me if you want it. :-P

So, after that little conversation, I submitted my report to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and wrote back to Fox 25 Undercover about it. I needed to make sure I’d made every effort to discuss the problem with the owner of the moving company first, though. I’m asking the BBB for a little over $1000 for difference in price quoted and the time over 8 hours that he charged me. I believe that 8 hours was more than enough time to move me from a 1 bedroom, I don’t care how much stuff I had. The fact that he only packed the boxes half full and charged me per box didn’t sit well, but I didn’t ask for the difference. Instead, I asked to be charged for the agreed upon price of the move. I should also note that at some point he got an extra guy to come in and help out, at which point he charged me more. Since I agreed only on $85/hour (not the number of men it would take), I made sure to note that in the complaint as well. I also asked for replacement costs for what he broke. At the time of the complaint it was a candlestick and a vase, but since then I can add my Uncork New York wine glass. It’s not replacable unless it’s for sale somewhere on Ebay. I got it at a wine festival in upstate NY in 1997. I made sure to include ‘broken items not yet found’ in the complaint.

Deliveries and Installations

I had my security system installed on Saturday. It took awhile, so I didn’t get out until 2 pm which means I didn’t have time to work on my final for accounting that day. Best Buy also delivered the entertainment center, which I need to put together at some point.

Anime Boston

Had a meeting on Saturday. It went well. Looks like we might get a Japanese guest. We’ll see.

Final

I’m such a procrastinator, and for some reason I couldn’t stay awake yesterday. So, the final still hasn’t been worked on. Obviously, I’ll be working on it tonight or I won’t get any sleep and have to call in sick tomorrow. I’m going to try to avoid that latter part.

Surgery

I have to go in for minor surgery and have callouses scraped off my corneas. Yummy.
