Notes sucks

This is how Notes decides to work. Try to replicate a database between two servers. Server A is inside the firewall, and Server B is in the DMZ. Server B’s notes name is B/C/D while server A’s notes name is A/C/D. So, standard procedure is to set up a connection document between the two that tells the server how often to replicate, keeping the two databases synched. Sounds simple, right?

My PM set up the connection documents, and I really didn’t think much about it when I referred to server B/C/D as simply B. After all, if I just type ‘B’ in the server name field, Notes finds it. So, what happens? Replication deletes all documents in the B databases. It took over 6 hours to figure out why this was happening. You have to use B/C/D.

What a pain in the ass. This is why I worked until after 7 PM today. This is why I got a take out of a sandwich for dinner. This is why I’m going to be so majorly stressed out when school starts next week.

On the school note, I’ve bought the 2 books that were available (out of 5 or 6) and they cost me $87 USED. Now I remember one more thing I hate about college.
